However, real-world testing revealed that the GLS450 exceeded its EPA rating, achieving 24 mpg during our 75-mph highway test. On the other hand, the GLS580 returned a less favorable 18 mpg in the same test.

If fuel economy is a primary concern for you, it’s worth considering that the BMW X7 offers a more fuel-efficient option in the luxury SUV segment. For instance, a six-cylinder X7 xDrive40i delivered an impressive 28 mpg during our highway test, making it a more fuel-efficient choice when compared to the GLS-Class models.
